After grabbing a few hours sleep i awoke still extremely jet lagged yet determined that it would not stop me enjoying the sights sounds and noises of the philippines, after all i had spent 14 hours on route many of them in a cramped economy class airline seat. We decided that today was going to be a day of rest well sort of at any rate so we availed ourselves of breakfast and headed for the hotel pool which was quite amazing and to our delight under populated. We talked more of the places that we would visit and planned our departure for bohol. The next day was the first day of site seeing for me and my mind brissled with excitement as i was so looking forward to experiencing life in the philippines. We rode a taxi to the mall and did some souvenir shopping to get the formalities out of the way. The taxi ride was wild i have never experienced anything like a taxi ride in the philippines it occured to me that there was only one rule when it came to driving in the philippines and that was that you can do anything you like on the road as long as you blow the horn while you are doing it and the taxis made good use of this principal.
The following day we packed as much as we could into the day and we saw the buddist temple which was totally awesome so bright and colourfull, with well maintained gardens and the statues were a sight to see it was a truly mind blowing experience and one i will remember for the rest of my life.

The Amazing statues
Angel decending stairs.
Next stop magellans cross which for those that do not know comemerates the birth of the catholic faith in the philippines. The cross as it stood was interesting but the rich influence that it has had on the culture of the people of the philippines is another thing all together. The most astounding thing about the whole sight seeing trip would have been the street hawkers just selling anything they can to make a living everything from candles to bottled water and cigarettes.

Leaving Magellans cross behind us we headed down the street on foot as i wanted to experience the street and the people of the philippines. The fruit markets in the street were really wonderfull with all of their colour and noise and the colourfull people that make up the rich tapestry that is Cebu. We did some shopping and then rode a jeepney back to the hotel at my insistence as i felt that a visit to cebu would not be complete without a ride in a jeepney as the philippines are known for there colourfull bright jeepneys.
